The end of a 50 year library career

Helen Lucas, a thirty year resident of Fairfield, retired last Wednesday after spending 50 years to the day working in the library catalogues of Fairfield University…. At the celebratory luncheon held for Lucas by her fellow Fairfield University library colleagues, Lucas spoke nostalgically of the different changes she’s seen in the library over the years, from the very first automated catalogue the library used, to entering the computer age. For Lucas, adjusting to ever-advancing new technology wasn’t particularly difficult, but a different kind of challenge.
