Bullying, teen suicides prompt soul-searching among religious groups

At Jesuit-run Fairfield University in Connecticut, students planned to hold a Nov. 3 candlelight vigil to pray for acceptance and inclusion of gay and lesbian students. Susan Birge, assistant vice president of student affairs and director of counseling and psychological services at the university, said students and school officials recognize that recent suicides are not just about harassment over sexual orientation but also how the Internet is used and how people treat one another overall.
