Forum: Biz schools should focus on middle managers

Dr. Donald E. Gibson, dean of the Dolan School of Business, wrote an op-ed that appeared in the newspaper: This class distinction, focusing either on students who can afford the elite or those who can afford only low-cost solutions, misses the importance and usefulness of business schools teaching skills to the “critical middle” – the middle managers, small-business owners and entrepreneurs who can’t afford or can’t take the time for Harvard or Yale, but who need business insights and skills to effectively manage in their environment or run their own business. The critical middle is where the action is: where business skills can make a real difference.
