‘Impact India 2021: Elevating the Value of Women and Girls’ A Fairfield University study

The research project “Impact India 2021″ was jointly undertaken by Fairfield University and two Jesuit-run institutions – St Xavier’s College in Mumbai and Loyola College in Chennai. It focuses on family dynamics that result in the birth of a significantly higher number of boys than girls. The pilot study illuminates the nexus of complex family pressures that make it acceptable for dynamics and familial many Indian couples to choose to have a single, male child.
