Just war in attacking Syria? Some see cloudy, some see clear answers

Fr. Richard Ryscavage, S.J., shares his thoughts on Syria: Father Ryscavage, director of Fairfield’s Center for Faith and Public Life and professor of sociology, observed that the just war principles don’t make Catholicism “a pacifist church.” “There’s a very strong theory of justice,” that defines the just war teachings, he said. Sometimes the pacifist approach of “‘go for peace,’ is just not possible.”
