How the ‘Trophy for Just Showing Up’ is earned

Dr Sonya Huber, assistant professor of English, wrote a blog about her son and parenthood for The New York Times’ blog Motherlode. “As a teacher of writing, I tell my students that showing up for an hour a day to the blank page makes a writer, even if nothing much happens. Writing, like sports, is about practice and failure, about holding your small effort in the light to examine what can be salvaged,” she wrote.
